Losing weight isn’t easy. One has to work out regularly or at least a few times a week and eat clean. But, nowadays, we are swamped by all those fast food ads, and what’s more, junk food is present now more than ever. People really have a hard time finding proper, healthy food to eat. This is especially hard for those who don’t really have enough time to visit the grocery store and prepare home-cooked meals. They look for easy and quick alternatives, and that’s where the problem occurs. That’s why we’d like to talk about healthy foods you’ll want to eat if you aim to lose weight.

Fitness and Diet: What to Eat to Lose Weight?

Soup

When you sit down to eat, it is good that you have a bowl of soup first. Start your meal with soup, and you’ll probably eat less food than you would have had you not started with soup. The only important thing here is to make sure that your soup is broth-based. It can be chunky or pureed, but it has to be broth-based. Keep the soup from one hundred to one hundred and fifty calories per serving. Also, skip the dollops of cream and butter.

Beans

Certain foods can help you shed weight so we couldn’t just omit beans from this article. Many claims that beans are inexpensive and filling! And that is true. For all of you who are working out and thus working towards losing weight, you should eat beans since they are an excellent source of protein. On top of that, beans are high in fiber and slow to digest. Therefore, you will feel full for an extended period which will most likely stop you from eating more.

Protein

You’ve probably seen a few gym goers that consume protein drinks, right? They usually do that to enhance muscle growth process further. And that’s perfectly fine. However, did you know that protein drinks can also help you lose weight? Be aware of the fact that these drinks and shakes aren’t some magic pills that will rid you of the excess weight though! You have to work out a bit too. Fine protein drinks help you reduce your calorie intake. They are low in calories and high in protein so you’ll feel full after drinking them. That’s why you won’t crave junk food or snacks after the workout.

Veggies

We’d do you wrong if we didn’t mention vegetables. Add pureed vegetables to your diet since they can be quite useful as ‘cheat’ foods. You will cut back on the calories you’re eating and enjoy that ‘cheat’ meal at the same time. Penn State researchers once added pureed cauliflower and zucchini to mac and cheese, and people liked the dish as much. However, they ate two hundred to three hundred and fifty calories fewer. Think about this next time you ‘forget’ to add veggies to your dish.

Whole eggs

Since these were once falsely feared for being high in cholesterol, we have to mention them now to the right the wrong. According to various new studies, whole eggs don’t adversely affect blood cholesterol and don’t cause cardiac arrest. Moreover, they belong to some of the best foods you can eat if you want to cut weight. Eggs are high in protein, healthy fats and they can make you feel full while having a very low amount of calories. On top of that, eggs are quite nutrient dense and can help you get all the nutrients you need on a calorie-restricted diet. Almost all the nutrients are found in the yolk.

Salmon

It is common knowledge that oily fish such as salmon is quite healthy. Moreover, it is very satisfying, keeping you full for many hours with few calories. Salmon is high in quality protein, healthy fats, and all sorts of important nutrients. Of course, fish and seafood in general supply a significant amount of iodine. Iodine is important for proper function of the thyroid gland which is responsible for your metabolism. On top of that, salmon is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids which have been proven to reduce inflammation. Inflammation plays an important role in obesity and metabolic disease. So, add salmon to your diet!

Beef (grass-fed)

If you are a fan of burgers, only go for grass-fed. They are a bit more expensive, but they won’t harm your belly (excess fat-wise). Grass-fed beef is naturally leaner and has fewer calories than usual meat. A lean seven-ounce conventional strip steak has three hundred eighty-six calories and sixteen grams of fat. However, a seven-ounce grass-fed strip steak has only two hundred thirty-four calories and five grams of fat. Grass-fed meat also has higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids.

Bear in mind that you most likely won’t lose weight efficiently if you just eat clean and don’t work out. Healthy food and regular exercise are the winning teams when it comes to weight loss!
