Just hearing the word Cancer in medical context can make many people worry. Breast cancer is the second common cancer in females after lung cancer. So, what really is breast cancer? A cancer where breast cells grow out of control, usually starting out in the lobules and ducts parts of the breasts. It can also spread to other parts of the body.
Scientists are trying to bring in even better and innovative ways to prevent breast cancer. Exercise is the best remedy for preventing almost any disease. Being physically active does not take any extra effort if you set aside some time from your daily routine. Create an exercise schedule. Stick to that schedule and you shall see the benefits. Research suggests lower risk of breast cancer is found in women who are physically active for at least 30 minutes a day. The cells present in the breasts stay stable and balanced when given proper physical exertion.
- Little or No Alcohol –

Research based evidence suggests that drinking alcohol is linked to increased chances of breast cancer. Greater the consumption of alcohol, greater the risk of developing increased cells linked to breast cancer. So avoid drinking alcohol or significantly reduce the intake. An interesting thing to note is that even a single glass of alcohol daily can increase the chances of the cancer developing. Therefore, excusing yourself for a glass a day is not healthy.
- Breast Feeding –
For those women who have kids, breast feeding is the best and probably the easiest way to prevent breast cancer. Research suggests breast feeding for a year or more (all children combined), lowers the risk of breast cancer. The breast cells stay healthy and in control. Moreover, breast feeding has health benefits for the child as well. It provides natural source of nutrition for the child instead of the less organic milk available in the market.
- Eat Healthy –

Less meat and more plants should be your mantra for a healthy and well balanced way for prevention of breast cancer. Maintain a diet that is low in carbohydrates and sugar, and rich in organic fat and protein. Eat a lot of vegetables and organic plants. Most importantly eat foods rich in vitamin D and those with anti-inflammatory properties. If you eat fast food and junk food in excess, immediately cut it down. Cut whatever is inorganic in your diet, only eat natural fruits and vegetables.
- Sleep well –
Sleep levels should be optimized in a way that include a balance sleep cycle. A poised sleep routine fosters a stable immune system together with balanced hormones. Research suggests that sleep deprivation and constant snoring leads to poor cancer related survival. Therefore, proper sleep and rest is a must for prevention of breast cancer. Do not over work yourself. Also, do not take stress. Stress leads to sleep deprivation and anxiety.
- Weight Check and Menopause –

Keep a check on your wait in general and specifically after menopause. The body creeps up after menopause, causing significant issues when you are overweight. This might not only lead to the development of breast cancer but other cancers too. Therefore, it is advisable to exercise regularly to reduce weight and also to keep cholesterol levels in check.
