There is nothing cute about natural verbalization accompanied by random coughs which don’t seem to stop. While there are many reasons as to why you might have a cough, I’m sure you can agree with me that your first instinct is to rip off your throat just so that you can breathe for a minute. We will discuss the various home remedies for a cough, but only those worth mentioning.
The Most Effective Home Remedies for a Cough
Of all the home remedies for a cough, this is the simplest and most effective therapy. You’ll need two teaspoons of honey and mix it with either herbal tea or a concoction of lemon and warm water. Since a cough is brought about the irritation of the throat, honey does the soothing.
This is another simple alternative since all you need is the peppermint and a warm liquid (be it tea or a steam bath). The trick here is to drink/inhale the concoction, and since one of the components in the peppermint is methanol, it assists in soothing the throat.
This is my all-time favorite natural remedy for a cough. You can literally feel the bacteria crawling away the moment you take the first sip. For this, you will need; freshly cut and crushed ginger, lemon and honey. If you have noticed, it is a combination of other individual home remedies for a cough, and therefore you can be sure that it is effective.
You will first add some water to the crushed ginger and bring it to a boil; then add the honey and lemon. Sieve the mixture and drink it right away, at the highest temperature you can take.

If you are crazy about dairy products, you can use that to your advantage. There are about a hundred milk recipes that are natural remedies for specific ailments, but we will stick to the primary three used as natural home remedies for a cough. They include; Milk and Honey, Milk and Tumeric and Milk and cardamom. The milk just forms a basis for the other ingredients to act as soothing agents.
Okay, so this one is a very brute method of dealing with a cough; but you want it to go away so bad, don’t you? All you have to do is crush two to three cloves of garlic and place it in boiling water. You can take a step further by adding honey and lemon in it. Another option would be to add a few drops of clove oil for extra soothing.
Isn’t it relaxing to know that onions don’t only make you cry? Just like most of the remedies I mentioned above, all you need from the onions is the juice. Mix the juice with honey and swallow the blend at least twice a day.
It is important to note that most of these mixtures work best if you take them while hot, not so much as to burn your tongue though, but warm enough to fight the germs.
