Every year millions of people around the world take on a “ New Years Resolution ” to improve their health, and ultimately most of them fail.
Why?
Poor planning!
You can’t jump into a new workout routine, healthy habits or a drastically different diet without planning correctly. Fortunately, there are simple tips you can use to make sure you choose a New Year’s Resolution which you are capable of accomplishing.
Keep reading below to learn some helpful information on how to choose a New Year’s Resolution that will help you improve your health and much more!
How to Achieve Your Healthy New Years Resolution in 2019
Step 1: Choose an Eating Strategy You Can Follow for a Year or More!
Many people love to start a new diet for their New Year’s mResolution, but they don’t plan on how they can keep it for more than the first week. If you want to make your New Year’s Resolution actually improve your body and mind, you need to choose something you can stick to for a whole year (or more)!
There are many “diets” you can follow, but only a few of them have consistently produced results for people around the world.
For example, the Ketogenic Diet, Paleo Diet, and IIFYM Diet (If It Fits Your Macros) are well known and successful diet strategies many people have used.
If none of these seem reasonable to you, start with a small “diet” of your own such as cutting out alcohol (at least on weekdays) or soda, stopping to eat fast food, or any other healthy yet straightforward change you can make. Making a few key points of healthy difference in your life is more than enough to constitute a legitimate New Year’s Resolution!
Step 2: Hold Yourself Accountable for Exercise!
The time directly after New Year’s is always the best for any gym or fitness center regarding business because thousands of people sign up for memberships and only use them a couple of times. If you don’t want this to be you, choose an exercise strategy which you can maintain easily!
For many people, going to the gym is the perfect way to stay in shape. Some people genuinely love going to lift weights or train at a fitness center, and making a resolution to go 3-4 times per week is a good challenge for them.
For other people, 30-45 minutes of walking in the morning are the right amount of exercise for them, and choosing to take on that battle is more than enough already.
Whatever your exercise goal is, make sure it is exciting and doable! Remember, you don’t want to take on more than you can for this year’s New Year’s Resolution!
Step 3: Keep Yourself Motivated!
If you are looking to make the new year your healthiest ever, you are going to need to keep yourself motivated long-term. There are many options for motivation on the internet, ranging from quotes, images, music, and more!
For example, you could follow professional basketball player Adam Kemp and his health and fitness website for information and motivation all year.
There are many examples of fitness influencers and people in the fitness industry who are happy to provide information, and help you stay on track for your goals!
If you have trouble with motivation in the gym, try a new workout playlist or invest in some cool workout headphones.
Regardless, your New Year’s Resolution will ultimately wither if you cannot keep your motivation up!
Concluding Thoughts
Completing your New Year’s Resolution to become healthier is simple if you don’t overreach. For starters, only attempt a “diet” which you know you can keep for more than a couple weeks. If you try to force yourself to eat a very restrictive set of foods, it is likely you will not keep up the diet for long!
Once your diet strategy is set, challenge yourself to exercise as much as possible! If you struggle with exercising often, make as much time as you can, try out different forms of exercise, and essentially do whatever is necessary to get yourself moving.
Lastly, use the resources around the internet and in the world around you to keep your motivation up. If you’re motivated and focused on a goal, you will achieve your New Year’s Resolution this year!
