Most people are unaware of the side-effects of what they might be consuming or the diet they are following.

Nutrition plays a significant role in maintaining our health. A balanced diet which consists of a combination of vital nutrients is essential for our well-being. So to help you boost your immune system and protect yourself from diseases, I bring you 5 Nutrition rules to live by:

5 Nutrition Rules to Live By

Eat clean

The term clean eating might sound confusing, but the concept is quite simple. It means to eat whole foods and avoid all sorts of processed food. Processed foods consist of preservatives and other chemicals that are harmful to our health. They are also rich in refined grains and consumption of processed carbs increases the chances of obesity, diabetes, heart diseases and other health issues.

Eat whole foods only; they are rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Add lots of vegetables and fruits to your diet. If you want to add meat as a protein, you can have chicken, turkey or fish. Don’t give up fats entirely; add healthy fats to your diet such as foods that contain Omega 3s.

Water is essential

Water is the best natural drink available for humans. It has such significant health benefits; it helps us stay active, detoxifies the body, aids in weight loss. It is also great for our skin.

Our body needs about 2 liters of water every day, this may sound like an easy task, but we end up neglecting this need a lot of times. Well, the solution is to have watery foods instead such as Cucumber, Watermelon, Strawberries, Blueberries and many others.

Don’t Rely on Supplements

Supplements aren’t a wise option they are heavy in the pocket as well so don’t depend on them. Try to acquire the desired nutrients through nature’s supplements, and if you are still deficient, you can add a multivitamin. It is best to choose a natural supplement such as an all-natural pre-workout supplement or a natural dietary supplement. However, make sure you consult your doctor or dietician before adding any of these to your diet.

Calorie-rich Drinks are a big NO

You might think it is healthy to have energy drinks or sports drinks, well you are wrong. All these beverages are packed with sugar and high calories that are not good for health. Energy drinks also contain caffeine which can affect eyesight and sleep patterns. Instead of these artificial beverages, it is better to have fresh juices diluted in water.

Avoid strict diets

Going on a diet to lose weight isn’t a bad option but remember dieting doesn’t mean starving yourself or eliminating the foods that contain the essential nutrients. Diets like these are harmful to your health. Some dietary regimes have gained much popularity this year such as the Ketogenic Diet, although many people have been able to achieve the desired results through this meal plan, it still has its cons. People are unable to follow such a high-fat diet for an extended period. So instead of observing such diet plans, you can add weight-loss friendly foods to your daily menu to help shed the extra pounds.
