Thanks for joining us and welcome to the course =>Get ready for a more confident you!
Tips for becoming more confident at work
In the previous part, we discussed the importance of surrounding yourself with positive friends, and to network with positive people to boost your confidence. This will help you in both your personal and professional life. Positive people can help you get more done and spur you on to success.
There are other sure-fire ways to become more confident at work besides working with positive colleagues. Here are a few suggestions.
Set Goals
Setting goals and then achieving them shows you how much you can accomplish.
Keep a Record of All Your Accomplishments
When you are always so busy at work, it is easy to lose sight of big achievements. You can also start to take them for granted as what you do every day. Since most companies only do assessments once a year, it can be hard to remember all your victories worth mentioning.
Keep a folder of “wins,” such as projects you are proud of, complimentary emails from colleagues and clients, and other information that supports how good a job you are doing. This will not only boost your confidence, but it will also make it a lot easier to ask for a raise or a promotion because you will have a solid track record of steady achievement.
Learn More
As we discussed earlier in the course, adding to your skills will boost your confidence. It might even give you the edge you need to get a raise or promotion.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions
Studies have shown that the most popular and valued colleagues in most workplaces are the ones who ask questions in meetings. They help those who are too shy to ask, and the questions often help the work turn out better because they clarify assumptions and highlight things that might not have been thought through fully.
Make the Most of Your Strengths
Negative self-talk has a habit of focusing on your weaknesses, undermining your efforts. Positive self-talk focuses on your strengths, supporting you as you go for your goals.
Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
This can be difficult, especially if they seem to have all that you want. But the truth is, we focus on what is important to us. It is impossible to “have it all”; therefore, it is a question of priorities. Decide what is most important to you in your work life, and go for it.
Do What You Love, Love What You Do
We spend one-third of our adult lives at work. Make them great.
Sometimes people lack the confidence to change their situation, no matter how unhappy it might be. Let’s look at the next part at how stepping out of your comfort zone could be exactly what you need to transform your life.
